Daredevil Born Again Plot
After five years of waiting, fans will finally get to see Daredevil and The Punisher together on screen. Jon Bernthal has officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Frank Castle, aka The Punisher.
Fans worldwide are eagerly awaiting the trailer for Marvel Studios’ film Daredevil: Born Again at D23 2024. During Marvel Studios’ D23 presentation on Friday night, Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio revealed a new look at their upcoming Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again. Cox returns as lawyer Matt Murdock, aka The Man Without Fear, while D’Onofrio reprises his role as Fisk, aka Kingpin.
This comes after concerns that Marvel would significantly lighten the character (as seen in his appearance in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law) or ignore the continuity established by the previous series.
In fact, it seems that was the initial plan, but a creative overhaul brought it much closer in style to the earlier version, and along with it, stars Jon Bernthal, Elden Henson, and Deborah Ann Woll have also returned.

A clip shown at D23 made it clear that the rivalry between Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk will be more bitter than ever, with the lawyer-turned-vigilante warning that he’ll be there whenever the gangster steps out of line.
“Matt and Wilson have changed, and their characters are going to collide in ways we’ve never seen before. It’s no longer enough to just try and kill each other. There’s a whole political game at play.”
Jon Bernthal’s return as The Punisher was announced last March. However, specific details about his role in the series remain under wraps. Speculation suggests that The Punisher might be involved in the death of a new superhero, White Tiger, leading to a partnership with Daredevil to uncover the truth.
This last line confirms what was shown in the Echo post-credit scene: Wilson Fisk will be running for mayor of New York City.
In a recent interview with the Official Marvel Podcast, producer Brad Winderbaum described Born Again as “incredible” and compared it to the recent hit X-Men ’97. He explained, “It’s something fans love, but it’s taking it in a new direction. These characters have matured. The universe is no longer the same. Things have changed. Society has changed.”
Discussing the behind-the-scenes turmoil, Charlie Cox told TVLine that the characters in Born Again are now much closer to the versions seen in the Netflix series.
Vincent D’Onofrio added: “It’s hard to comment because I want to say so much about the changes that happened, but in the end, the last few months of work we did was quite intense, beautifully written, and beautifully directed, so we can only hope for the best. Personally, I think it’s as intense as we’ve ever been.”

In April 2024, filming wrapped on the first season of Daredevil: Born Again, which will consist of nine episodes and be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Five.
At D23, producer Kevin Feige confirmed that production for the second season would commence soon, potentially bringing the series back up to the originally stated number of episodes.

Daredevil Born Again Release Date
Daredevil: Born Again is set to premiere in March 2025, though a specific release date has yet to be confirmed.
The series was initially targeted for a 2024 release, but it was significantly delayed due to a creative overhaul during production and further postponed by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

Cox mentioned that working with Henson and Woll again was quite emotional, stating that they are the heartbeat of this show, and always have been, so having them involved meant a lot to us, and I think it elevates the show tremendously.
Another return made possible by this overhaul is Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Fisk. It was previously reported that Sandrine Holt would take on this role, but it was later confirmed that Zurer would return instead.
D’Onofrio described Zurer as extremely talented and hinted that we will see Wilson and Vanessa at an interesting time.
In an unexpected tie-in, footage shown at D23 revealed that Mohan Kapur will appear in Daredevil: Born Again as Yusuf Khan, father of Kamala Khan (aka Ms. Marvel).
Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva, Nikki James, and Lou Taylor Pucci are all playing roles that have yet to be confirmed, while Carnival Row star Arty Froushan has also been spotted on set.
