“Nobody Wants This” centers around the unlikely relationship between Joan (Golden Globe-nominated Kristen Bell), a candid, agnostic woman, and Noah (SAG-nominated Adam Brody), an unconventional rabbi. When they meet at a friend’s dinner party, they realize there’s something special between them.

Erin Foster said during an interview:
Erin Foster created this series inspired by her own experiences to illustrate how challenging it can be to find happiness in a relationship. Emily Arlook plays a recurring role as Rebecca, Noah’s perfect Jewish girlfriend.
In an interview, Foster clarified that the show was not created to make a political statement about religion. She explained that she wanted to “tell a Jewish story from an outsider’s perspective, from someone who has chosen Judaism.”
Foster said, “The show is based on my one good decision: falling in love with a good Jewish guy. I realized that being happy is much harder than being unhappy—there’s nothing to complain about. So, I built the show around all the ways finding the right person can be incredibly difficult.”
